Hi there, I’m Danielle.

Trying to describe myself is a much harder task than I originally thought. I’m usually not at a loss for words. Hmmm…where shall I begin? Let’s see how this goes…

I live on the sunny East Coast of Central Florida with my two teenage daughters (Lauren & Lexi) and our dog Abby,  in a small surf town called New Smyrna Beach.

I’m originally from NYC and moved here with my family as a child. I still crave the smell of the city and the unlimited culture that the city provides right at your fingertips and I return often for a taste, but I wouldn’t change living here in this quaint little place for a minute. It’s the perfect setting to raise my small girl tribe.

A few years ago I purchased a Mid-Century ranch style home built in 1953. I’m knee-deep in the renovation process and I’ll be sharing lots of pictures and updates regarding my progress on this blog. Things move pretty slowly sometimes because there is no Mr. Nonvacante,  and to be honest, it’s hard to get things done by myself. Luckily, I have a great group of friends that are willing to help me along the way, as long as I keep the beer and pizza flowing.

I own a company that provides property maintenance, home repairs,  re-modelling and cleaning . I’m lucky enough to  occasionally be able to use my own services. However, my clients come first, so my house is often last on the list.

Speaking of lists, I’m a huge list maker. I always have a notebook with me. Something about black ink and neatly hand-written words is so visually and mentally pleasing to me…So, I  think I’ll give you some other information about myself and this blog in list form.

1. I grew up in a household where cooking and entertaining was a huge part of our lives. I’m Italian so preparing/eating good food and drinking good wine is in my blood. I have a hectic daily schedule, being a mother and a business owner, but on Sundays I slow things down and host a real “Sunday Dinner”. Friends and family come over for an evening of music, food and fun. I’ll be sharing some of my recipes and photos from these wonderful times.

2. Music is a huge part of my life. There’s always music on at my house in one form or another and if you came to visit me you’d probably be able to tell what kind of mood I’m in before you’ve even knocked on my door just by the song you hear playing in the background. I’m always on the hunt for new artists and obscure bands that have a good sound. I’m sure I’ll add some of that into this blog, as well.

3. I started selling Mid-Century and Danish Modern furniture, housewares,  art and clothing on Ebay years ago and I loved every minute of it. However, several years ago my life became very full and I let that part go, so I could focus on my family and my business. Half of my garage is still filled with vintage Gucci shoes and all the Mid-Century pieces that I couldn’t bear to part with. I’m hoping soon to start selling again, but this time on Etsy. I’ll be sure to give updates as I progress in this area.

4. Basically, I’m here to share my passion for Mid-Century design, good music and delicious food. I’ll be blogging about  these topics and other things that inspire me to write.   I’m so excited to be part of this great community of Mid- Century enthusiasts and I hope to make some new friends and learn something along the way.
